Have you ever seen Green Lights which shine in northern and southern parts of earth. These Green waves Are Called Aurora Borealis .
An aurora also commonly known as the northern lights (aurora borealis) or southern lights (aurora australis), is a natural light display in Earth's sky, predominantly seen in high-latitude regions (around the Arctic and Antarctic). Auroras display dynamic patterns of brilliant lights that appear as curtains, rays, spirals, or dynamic flickers covering the entire sky. Auroras are the result of disturbances in the Earth's magnetosphere caused by the solar wind. Major disturbances result from enhancements in the speed of the solar wind from coronal holes and coronal mass ejections. These disturbances alter the trajectories of charged particles in the magnetospheric plasma. These particles, mainly electrons and protons, precipitate into the upper atmosphere (thermosphere/exosphere). The resulting ionization and excitation of atmospheric constituents emit light of varying colour and complexity. The form of the aurora, occurring within bands around both polar regions, is also dependent on the amount of acceleration imparted to the precipitating particles. Wikipedia
But Did you know When Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) Went To Heavens Journey In Isra Al Miraj . Prophet Muhammad Saw Green Carpet Over Horizon Of Earth.
In Sahih al-Bukhari 3233:
Narrated `Abdullah:
Regarding the Verse: "Indeed he (Muhammad) did see. Of the Signs of his Lord, The Greatest!" (53.18) That the Prophet (ﷺ) had seen a green carpet spread all over the horizon of the sky.
حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ـ رضى الله عنه – {لَقَدْ رَأَى مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرَى} قَالَ رَأَى رَفْرَفًا أَخْضَرَ سَدَّ أُفُقَ السَّمَاءِ.
The word سَدَّ also means flap instead of carpet which is type of waves . Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) saying that he saw Green waves over the earth in the sky's horizon.
However Allah knows Best
The alternative definition meaning "flap" is nit a replacement for "carpet" but a complimentary definition as carpets "flap" when lifted. The carpet is known as rafraf, which muhammad is said to have sat on immediately after the hadith to get him to heaven. Flapping as it ascended rapidly. Nothing to do with aurora borealis as you can sit on it, you can't sit on the northern lights
